4 Months Old!

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008
Drew is 4 months old today!
And yes, we weighed him and measured him. He’s up to 15 lbs 4 oz and is 24 inches long. He’s now into his 3-6 month clothing, yet some 0-3 pants still fit or things that run big. We are getting good use out of his clothing - which is good because he’s already got a lot!
He’s doing great with sleeping. As a matter of fact he went from 9:30pm to 5:30am straight last night and barely woke up for a quick feed and back to sleep til 8:30am. So I figure that’s pretty good! We don’t really stay up when he eats in the middle of the night anyway- I know 5:30am is not the middle of the night for some people but in my book it is! haha.
Naps he’s getting pretty good about, I often feed him, lay him in the crib sometimes he plays and falls asleep- sometimes cries for a couple minutes and then sleeps but either way he does well. And well the carseat and a car ride are always a great for putting him to sleep too!

He still cries like there’s no tomorrow if he’s hungry, and he does get bored and antsy at times, but overall he’s pretty good. He is not rolling over quite yet, but he’s like his sister was about that, he never wants to lay down so it’s not like he has time to practice. Like Mary Elizabeth, he wants to sit up or stand and be a big-boy. He likes his bumbo and will sit in it and look around. His head control is really great, as it has been all along. And he really sits up well and when laying down or back a little attemps to pull himself up. Drew has gotten into his toys and is putting everything in his mouth and drooling some so maybe early signs of teething. He is babbling away and likes to get really loud so we all can hear him. He really loves his sister and watches everything she does. He’s very inquisitive and studies things… a bit like his father maybe. ;)
I definitely have to watch it with the tv, he will go to great lengths to watch it- such a man! haha, so we try to keep it off a lot around him as to not make him an addict. But once in a while will let him watch praise baby during some desperate times.

All in all he’s doing great and we look forward to his 4 month check up on Wednesday, probably going to get the go ahead on starting with rice cereal. Stay tuned to see how he likes it!

A wee bit o’ Irish…

Monday, March 17th, 2008

Ok so they only have a little bit of Irish in them… but still nonetheless they are a bit Irish. Though ME is on the mend and still swollen we were able to get some cute shots anyway…

Hope you all had a good day!

Post-Surgery Update

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

Mary Elizabeth’s surgery went well. She was in amazingly good spirits afterwards, so thanks for the prayers. She was sleeping on and off and in between she’d sit up and color, watch one of her favorite movies (The Sound of Music) and whatnot. It is also pretty great that she tollerated and listened to us about keeping the wires on her and all that. She was very good about everything.

Before surgery started, she did have a rough time in the OR, she seemed a bit scared and felt threatened, even though I brought her in she sorta fought off the nurses and didn’t want to be there- do you blame her? I bet it is overwhleming at her age- not really knowing what’s going on and feeling a bit nervous about her surroundings. But she did ok and I am thankful I can be there with her until she is asleep from the medication.

As far as how she is doing now- she’s still being a trooper and remaining happy through it all. She is a bit uncomfortable as you can imagine- so tylenol/motrin really helps. Her face is quite swollen as we knew it would be, but we are still praying the swelling resolves quicker than last time because it’s really hard. Her whole face and her mouth/tongue etc ballooned up- so things like talking and eating are hard to do right now and that’s a challenge as she wants to eat and talk- it’s frustrating for her.

We will go for a follow up visit with the Dr in 2 months. Last time it took about 4-5 weeks for the swelling to come down and we didn’t see any results for about 8 weeks, and some results even came after that. So we have to be a patient, and like many people- being patient is a hard thing to be.

After the follow up appt we’ll schedule an MRI to get a better look at what cysts remain.

As always, continue to keep her in your prayers and thoughts- and thank you!

Smushing it all together

Monday, March 10th, 2008

WOW I certainly made my plate fuller than it had to be!!! I fit in everything I could and had to do BEFORE surgery tomorrow that my eyes are litterally dropping as I type this but this was on my to-do list too!

Between christening invitations (which I still have about 10 more to do), Easter Bunny, Easter photos, Work, pre-op and doctor appointments- it’s not surprising the last week just FLEW by!

So please keep Mary Elizabeth in your prayers for a SUCCESSFUL surgery, with NO COMPLICATIONS, with an EASY RECOVERY, MINIMAL SWELLING and so on and so forth. Think of me at 5am tomorrow (oh that’s IF you are up- doubtful huh) when I’m leaving the house with 2 children and my hubby heading for NYC! But really, think of Mary Elizabeth – she’s getting older, more aware and hopefully she’ll manage well as it must be overwhelming and hard, ya know. I’ll be sure to update this as soon as I can after surgery is done. As a reminder this is the Sclerotherapy Injections to the cysts along her jaw/neckline and she had a great deal of swelling and discomfort for a while last time, the swelling took weeks and weeks to go down. So we’re definitely hoping for more ease in that department.

Anyway here are some very very adorable photos- I must brag as I did everything I could to get this done!!!
